It was hard to tell just from seeing the corner pictures but that wall didn’t necessarily look that bad to me from those pictures.  Horizontal cracks generally are where the was has deflected inward, vertical cracks are where you have settlement in that specific spot.  Our basements around my area have numerous problems due to being unreinforced and having poor drainage away from foundations.

My day job is being a contractor that specifically deals with foundation or structure related issues so these are the type of flips I am always trying to find near me. Good luck on your search.

I put anywhere from 600-800 of those in houses every year in my area. It is a very common problem in my area with our soils and the older houses that have block walls that were never reinforced. Steel I beams are common because if the wall isn't bowed bad, it saves a lot money compared to digging out the wall and either pushing it back and reinforcing it or laying a new one. I'd find a company's warranty for it or have an engineer sign off on it for you since any bank will most likely ask for it in the future. Good luck

@Justin Taber that will most likely be the route I take when I am ready to purchase something.  Thank you for the offer.  I will definitely get in touch in the next few weeks once I am settled in.

I know this is late but I am originally from Peoria and have quite a few contacts there.  If you need any help, feel free to send me an email.

Thanks a lot, Matt.  I will be making the move after Christmas and getting settled in.  I will definitely get into contact with you.  I'm really looking forward to being in the area.

I have been a long time reader and have gathered a lot of useful information from being a member here.  At the beginning of 2017,  I will be moving to Columbus for a new job.

It will be a year or two before I feel comfortable with the area to want to pull the trigger and purchase a property.  In the meantime,  I will want to network with agents, contractors or anyone that is involved in investing so I will be looking into club and networking events.

Since I will not know anyone,  I will want to stay busy outside of my normal work hours and would like to find an investor, flipper, or contractor to do some extra work for in the evenings or weekends.  Does anyone have any suggestion as the best way to get in touch with that market?

I can provide a resume and references.  I have always worked in the residential construction market and a good opportunity opened up in Columbus in the commercial market which is the reason for my move.

Thanks,

Aaron
