No leads, and there isn't any evidence except for the can of lighter fluid. Fire dept thinks the only way they can catch the person is if someone else turns them in. They are offering a 5k reward and announced it on the news, so we'll see if that helps.

@Roberto Gutierrez like everyone else I feel awful reading the latest update.  Hope for a speedy payout from the insurer.  I've always wondered how builders protect their product during build outs, especially once HVAC is installed, interior finishes are in progress, etc.  Can you please share your experience?

This is my first time through the process, so i'll certainly share in about a month when i have an answer!

Correct! Most importantly no one was hurt. All houses were under construction so no one was displaced either

Update - 6/24/2018

This week we had something very unexpected occur. An arsonist decided to pay the houses a visit around 9 PM one night. It appears that both houses were doused in lighter fluid, and unit B was lit on fire. The fire dept found a can of lighter fluid, and determined that the person that did this started the fire in the stairwell. Apparently this creates a chimney like effect that quickly pulls the flames upwards. Unit B was completely covered in flames 15 minutes and collapsed. Once the fire touched Unit A it went up quickly as well since it was likely covered in lighter fluid also. Both houses are toast, and one of our other homes next door sustained a heavy amount of fire damage as well. I thought about deleting this thread, but am posting this in the hopes that it encourages everyone to pay for insurance. We have builder's risk insurance, and while it may take a couple of months I think we will be reimbursed for the damages. Construction will be on hold indefinitely while we work all this out. Happy to answer any questions in the meantime.

$15.2k total including materials, labor, and engineering inspection. So $7.6k per unit.

How are the numbers looking at this point?

We are on budget still. Foundation went a couple grand over what we anticipated, but windows were a couple grand cheaper. We already had all of our quotes from the beginning, so i don't anticipate anything really derailing us. Site work can really push you over budget if you aren't checking everything on the front end. For ex - if the existing sewer lines are further than 6' under ground then you can end up paying an extra 3-5k for digging. That alone bumps you up $1-2/SF build cost depending on your size.
