Hi Rusty,
Yes, it is nice to see Oregonians on here. This market is unique to the rest of the country.
I hold two properties right now, both are in St Helens.
How is the market in the Mid Valley? Are you a member of NWREIA? What is your focus?
Greg

Jeff and Jackie,
Thank you for the welcome.
Jeff, what have been your experiences of late in the Portland Metro Area? What types of deals are you specialty?

Hello BP!
First off, I would like to say what a great forum Bigger Pockets is. Thank you for putting this together.
I am married with two children. My wife is a successful Realtor in Portland, and I am a firefighter in St. Helens, Or (the city... not the mountain that blew its top in the 80's. My children both attend private schools in Portland and are active in sports, dance, drama, wake boarding, snowboarding, and community service.
As the title says, I was a small time investor. Over a 3 year period I wholesaled, Retailed, Lease Optioned and held a total of 7 properties in St Helens Or. While I appeared to be successful to causal observers, I lacked a business and financial plan, marketing skills, and a team. I had my hand in every single aspect of my business. Buying, selling, rehabbing & management.
Hindsight and reflection has revealed to me that I'm am pretty good at negotiating and rehab. So so at selling. And quite frankly I hate managing tenants. Management is likely my biggest downfall because I never dedicated any time to education.
So, today I want back in. I see tremendous opportunity. I am building my team, securing private financing, and actively looking for deals.
