I’ve had a guy like this for over two years. I just told him he needs to leave. He tries to run the show and it’s annoying. It would be a hard pass for me on people like this again for me in the future.

Yeah, basically the guy comes in already acting like he's the one in the landlord position and I'm the tenant. Maybe I could have played the part more, but I don't want to come off as an overbearing landlord on first impression. I still maintained frame, but I don't think it's worth 2k a month to put up with that every day.

@Samuel Nyu I would find a property manager ASAP because it appears you may not be ready or capable of being a landlord.

Thanks Jon. It is my first unit and my first time renting, and the rental is the other half of our duplex which we live in. My main concern is having a peaceful living experience, and money isn't a main priority because everything is paid for. It is not worth it to battle it out on a daily basis with some guy for 2k a month.

Hello BP,

I finally got the 2nd half of our duplex up for rent and we have a prospective tenant husband/wife.

On paper, everything is great. Great credit score, income, professionals, etc. They were really positive about the house.

The only red flag for me is the husband is one of those type of guys who tries to hold eye contact too long, exaggerated wide-leg standing posture, Type-A type.

He seemed nice, but definitely gave off vibes like he was attempting to gain control and be in charge. He's definitely one of those "I'm the guy" type of guys.

I have to live next to them, so keep this in mind.

Would this be a pass for you? Do these types tend to be trouble after moving in?

Thank you,

Samuel
