@Dean Harris Great to know, I see a lot of investors doing well in Memphis with the BRRRR strategy. I've watched a few of your zipcode reviews which were very informative!

@Alex S. Interesting strategy to validate a STR market by proxy of nearby hotels. Wouldn't you be competing with these hotels for short term tenants if you started a STR in this kind of zone? Maybe it's just a way to steal a slice of their market share but I'm interested in hearing from other investors who have tried this kind of thing.

Thanks so much for the information, @Lara White!  I will be sure to check out those resources.

@Connor Cushman I actually have looked into each of those areas but the competition in the Smokies and Blue Ridge to a lesser extent these days (along with being more expensive than Memphis) made it seem less achievable.  I've briefly researched the Carolina beaches, such as Myrtle Beach, but not as much as the other areas.

Hi all,

I'm interested in investing in real estate in the Memphis area, and have a couple of questions:

  • - Can anyone share their experience with STRs in Memphis?
  • - What neighborhoods would you recommend?  I'd like to go with the higher end neighborhoods (B+, A) with less crime, walkability, etc.- Does anyone have a good realtor in Memphis that can assist me in my search?  Ideally, someone with AirBnb or short term rental experience.

Thank you BP community!

Best,

Sean
