Personally, I'd avoid trying to house hack in areas with an HOA. In addition to the problems you mentioned, the fee could eat into your profits for amenities you don't even use.
If you're dead set on an area with an HOA, I'd just ask if they allow renters. I believe in Dallas some do and some don't.
Area you looking in Dallas proper? Highland Park? Bishop Arts? Or in a suburb like Plano?
Hi,
I am looking to house hack my first property in DFW area. The area has many homes with HOA. Should I be avoiding HOA? Or does it matter?
My concern is that HOA might vote against me renting by rooms when I move out. And the rule might also change in the future.
Also,Looking for suggestions to solve the parking situation with house hacking. How to park 5 cars with a standard 2 car garage without pissing off neighbors….I would imagine cars need to be parked behind each other but that would make it hard if the one parked inside want to get out…
Hi,
Does anyone have any good home inspector recommendation? I would love to save their contact for the future

I have seen a house on a market for quite sometime. Price has dropped a few times. The listing stated about the foundation issue. I am not sure how serious it is and if it will be able to be fully fixed.
Below is the picture measure illustration. Seems that the interior foundation has issue and piers are needed. Should I walk away? How much is the cost to fix?

I am a first time home buyer and have been listening to many Biggerpockets Prodcasts. Looking to house hack my first property ideally a duplex or house with ADU. And hopefully repeat the process for a few times.
I just started reaching out to mortgage loaner and several realtors. I wonder if it would be a good idea for me to use multiple realtors? Or should I interview them, walk through properties with them, review their deals and find only one to go ahead with?
I also heard that many realtors request an exclusive partnership. Should I avoid them? Would that be possible to have a try before you buy sort of thing for the exclusive partnership? As a first timer, finding a good realtor is important so I don’t think I should go with whoever.
