First, I like social aspect of it, as you are providing home to a person/family in need. Second, is you do not have to look for tenant every year. Why far away - no answer.

I am from Atlanta GA suburbs. I am not an active investor. I am learning more about buying Section-8 properties. I feel real estate investment has relatively less risk compared to other investments.

I like to know more on the risks and challenges in investing Section - 8 properties that are physically far away from you. How much of in person presence is needed? Also are Section-8 properties still good investment? What cities/towns have investable properties for ROI? I know there is no fixed number answer for the question. Please share your thoughts.
