Bigger Pockets is a great resource and stay away from so called Gurus. Study the industry, strategies & markets that you're interested in. As old saying goes measure twice and cut once.

I am wondering if I look at, investigate, research real estate while traveling am I able to write off the trip?

I am interested in Belize and want travel there to investigate investing opportunities.

Welcome to BP!

If you are interested in Lemoore/Hanford area you should listen to BP Podcast 103 w/Elizabeth Colegrove.

She lives in that area and is investing in rentals there.

Hello Ben,

the local REIAs are very good to network, make contacts and learn.

The Bigger Pockets Podcast is awesome. Josh & Brandon do a great job with it.

It is a great resource on learning strategies from other investors.

Good Luck & Much Success!

Persistence is the key. You may have to look at 10s if not 100s of properties to find the right opportunity. Not sure if you listen to BP Podcast. Josh & Brandon are always recommending to expand search area within hour away. For Sacramento that could include Marysville/Yuba City, Woodland, Auburn, Lodi/Stockton, Shingle Springs. This allows for local investing but still manageable. If the numbers are good it doesn't matter if it is next door or next town from you.

I am considering the Reno market for next purchase. Would like to get info on that market. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks Scott
