Thank you @Edward Synicky I'm really looking forward to making that first purchase. It doesn't have to be big, I just want it to be real.

Welcome @Christopher Cole, can you afford a property manager on a single duplex? How much does that cost?

Hi there @Jack Knochel , I've been looking at the local REI clubs, I look forward to meeting you at one of the get togethers!

@Kevin Polite Charlotte is interesting. There have been a lot of people moving here and I think she is only starting to come to terms with the fact that a lot of people here are transplants (including yours truly). As a result there is a high demand for single family rentals without enough inventory. Also Plaza-Midwood and the surrounding neighborhoods are hot or becoming hot. If you can find motivated sellers, there are good oppertunities in that part of the city.

Hi yourself @James Wise

Hi Joel,

Thanks!

It took me a while to accept that it was fear holding me back.

Looking forward to taking the plunge now though.

Hi, My name is Bram. I'm new to Real Estate Investing. I've been reading and thinking about it for years (procrastinating) and am now taking the plunge to take some action.

I'd like to do my first deal in the next 6 months.

I still have a lot to learn, especially on the practical side and look forward to all the good advice I will be able to find here.

I've been a project manager in software for close to 15 years now. Although not connected to real estate per se, I do have a lot of experience in planning and measuring progress, solving problems, reading and executing contracts as well as interfacing with both customers and contractors.

I hope I'll be able to use that experience to help the members here.

If there is something I can do for you, please do not hesitate to ask.
