Hey Julia, I realize this is an old post but if you have anything like this in the future please feel free message me and I would be glad to look at pics or meet you there and make an offer. Thanks!

I would just tell him that on this project we weren't close enough on the price but on your future projects you would still like to have his input and bid.

Definitely have a written rehab list of some kind for them when you agree to the price, since you are halfway through the reno already I hope you did that. Make sure he knows you will be "inspecting what you expect" at the end and will make a punch list, if needed, for him. Also if he tries to throw extra big ticket items at you in the middle of it, don't be afraid to simply say that you want to get a second opinion before saying yes.

Good luck with the flip!

I am a newbie to the forums and just got turned on to BP 6 months ago. I have been listening to the podcasts and am looking forward to learning from all of these experienced investors of all kinds on here. I'm a project manager for a customer service business that is in the real estate industry and am currently overseeing 40-70 renovations at a time. I am loving gaining this invaluable experiences and getting paid at the same time, I hope to expound on this career and use it to launch my real estate investing in the upcoming years. Please feel free to leave any insights, tips or comments on here so I can learn more!
