@Michael Krotchie that’s actually a really good idea! what’s the typical price range for a title search? Let’s say the the bank does own the property (which is more than likely the case) how would I move forward with trying to purchase it if the bank no longer exists?

@Scott Mac I’m hoping he’s not. Some of the information he was telling me regarding the property just wasn’t adding up. So you recommend to seek an attorney?

@Michael Krotchie I’m not sure if what he’s telling me is true or not in order for me to follow through with buying the property but I’m just going off of what was told to me.

I am fairly new to the real estate game so pardon my poor description of this situation. My father lost his investment property in 2008 to the bank. He explained to me that the very same bank who foreclosed his property had collapsed and the bank no longer exist. So since 2008 this property has been sitting vacant. However my father still pays the taxes and still has the keys. My father is willing to sell me this property however I want to be sure that this deal doesn't come to bite me in the future. Has anyone heard of a situation similar to this? If so, how should I handle it?
