I’m interested to hear from the successful investors on this forum and your paths to success. I guess my biggest question would be; what was your maturation process (i.e. did you start out as a part-time/full-time investor, are you still part-time/full-time, did you have a mentor, and any other steps that led to your success in your journey)? I appreciate all of your responses ahead of time.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all of your responses. The question has been asked as to why I am trying to obtain a degree; the reason is that I like many of the veterans on this forum have the GI bill that allows us to receive an education from most academic institutions and receive a housing allowance while attending. The way I look at it is why not take advantage of a free education and get paid for it while attending. I would also like to generate some capital before I jump in with both feet. It really just comes down to the fact that I would like to have a degree that will provide the most opportunity to generate capital and still allow me time to do what I truly believe would make me happy, and with hard work create a legacy that I can pass on to my children.

I understand what you’re saying and fortunately my wife is well paid and I make a little money off of my GI bill. I really just don’t know if the real estate degree would be worth the time.

Hi everyone, I am new to BP and am looking for some career advice. I am a prior service Air Force firefighter looking for a career change and I’m thinking about chasing my passion for real estate. My wife’s occupation brought the two of us to San Antonio TX and I am now contemplating whether I should take the plunge and get my BS in Real Estate Finance with an option to minor in facility and property management, construction management or finance. However, my alternative would be to settle for a degree in supply chain management. My main concern is that I am unsure as to how marketable a real estate degree would be vs. a degree like supply chain management which appears to be much more specialized and marketable in San Antonio. Ultimately, we would like to relocate to my home state of Colorado however I am undecided as to which degree plan would benefit my family and I. My dreams and aspirations involve myself owning and running a profitable company within real estate although I still do not know in what niche. Any advice of information you may provide is greatly appreciated.
