HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Governor Kay Ivey announced that Amazon plans to open a new fulfillment center in the Rocket City. The news was announced in a press release from the governor’s office.

The projects, located in Huntsville, Montgomery and Birmingham, will ultimately create over 900 jobs at the new facilities. In addition, Amazon said it plans to add more than 500 full-time positions in Alabama before the end of 2021, with preparations made for another 1,800 available seasonal jobs.

Including Huntsville, the state’s fastest-growing city, Madison County is experiencing a high amount of incoming investment. It experienced 2.6% business growth, $758 million in GDP growth, and 24.2 new building permits per every 1,000 homes over the last three years. Madison rated 48.68 on Smart Asset’s incoming investment index.

This week the median list price for Huntsville, AL is $368,450 with the market action index hovering around 68. This is about the same as last month's market action index of 68. Inventory has held steady at or around 216. 

In the last few weeks, the market has achieved a relative stasis point in terms of sales to inventory. However, inventory is sufficiently low to keep us in the Seller’s Market zone so watch changes in the MAI. If the market heats up, prices are likely to resume an upward climb.
