Thanks Melanie for the response. Interestingly, had a long discussion with my daughter right after my "intro post" - and she is convinced she prefers a single family home (suburban) to a condo in Central Phoenix. This could still work well (my three-step goal is place for her to live initially, rental 5 years down the road, inheritance eventually). I will have to do some research into rental potential and ROI for single-family homes...

New to this forum. Considering a condo in Downtown Phoenix as an “investment plus inheritance”. Daughter just got her first job, and will likely live in Phoenix long term (she is engaged to a local). So this could be a combination of “place for her to live initially, rental in a few years when she buys her own place, inheritance down the road”. 

Came to this forum on a referral from Bogleheads.
