Hi @Peter Vekselman, thank you for the suggestion! I just quickly read about wholesaling and it does sound like a good way to start for someone in my situation! I will spend more time studying and let you know if I have any questions. 

By the way, I was also from Georgia and my parents still live there! I heard the housing market there is blooming so I thought it may be nice to purchase some rental properties in GA in the future when I have more capital. What's your thoughts on this?

Hi @Daniel Raposo, that's a good question! After further thinking, I think in the short term, I would like to have enough passive income to support my parents and myself so I can quit my job as an employee, and start a business venture. As a software developer, I have a dream of owning my own tech company one day! As for long term financial goal, I would like to build up my asset portfolio, half in real estate and half in a few businesses. 

Do you have any suggestions on what else I should consider in terms of figuring out my financial goals, and how I can get started? Thank you!

Hello, everyone! This is Teresa and I'm excited to join the BiggerPockets community! I'm 27 years old and currently have a full-time job as a software developer. My husband and I got married in January this year and purchased our very first home! It's very exciting but scary at the same time since it felt like a huge financial commitment.  Also, my husband and I recently began educating ourselves financially and wanted to increase our cash flow and not relying solely on our paychecks.

I'm very interested in real estate investing. Before joining BiggerPockets, I have read other online articles and books. These materials opened my eyes and inspired me, but I didn't know how I could begin investing! I'm hoping BiggerPockets can help me turn my dream into achievable goals and actions. 

My short term goal is to find out what kind of real estate investment is a good fit for my current financial situation, and how I could get started with very little savings since we are just starting out.
