@Allison Stewart, thanks for the advice.  My wife and I have considered house hacking.  We have been on the look out for a turn key duplex in South Austin with a few other filters/specifics.

Hey Eibar, I recommend buying Brandon's book "Investing in Real Estate with No and Low Money Down".  Then you should feel confident in reaching out to "Hard Money Lenders" in your area who set the terms on how much money you will need.  You can find them on this website too!

Also, I highly recommend listening to the Podcasts. There's a treasure trove of information.

Hello Y'all!  TJ Clinch from Austin, TX here.  Moved to Austin from Houston 8 years ago and got started in real estate as a Realtor about 5 years ago.  My wife introduced me to BiggerPockets and after listening to several episodes, we are ready to start the journey to financial freedom.

As a Realtor the paycheck is unpredictable and with a baby on the way its time we work on generating passive income. We plan to flip SFH's so that we can invest in buy and holds in other markets since finding 1% in Austin is tough.
