HI @Tina Marie,

I haven't used either of those, but I've heard good things about both.  I don't think you can really go wrong with either of them as they'll both team you all the fundamentals for you to get started!

I started with REtipster, was a super easy, fast and informative program!  I hope that helps.

Hi @Reid H McKee and @Andrew Wright

Sorry this is quite a bit late.  I started off my investment journey in land and signed up under RETIPSTER, I thought it was a good program and I went through all the tutorials to get started in about a weeks time.

I haven't tried Land Academy, but I have heard some good things from other land investors.  I hope that helps, feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions about land.

Hi there,

Just going through some old forums posts.  I've been buying and selling land the last few years.  If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me!

Hi,

Sorry I know this post is very old, but I thought I'd chime in as I'm a newbie to RE, but have experience buying and selling land (might be the only knowledge I can contribute to this community at the moment).

I find land to be a bit easier to understand, and you're dealing with less complicated pieces as they're usually just bare parcels of land.

I had stopped investing in land in mid 2019 as life took a different path, but I heard due to COVID that land investing in 2020 was skyrocketing and the reason I got back into it.  I hope that helps! Feel free to message me if you have questions.

Hi @Reed Lambier,

Sorry this is a bit late.  If you're still interested, I've heard good things from land investors that started off in both.  I think both programs will teach you the foundational aspects of getting started in land.  I personally started with RETIPSTER, I got through all the tutorials within a week and jumped in and got started with mailers the 2nd week, this was in 2017.

There are some new programs and apps that make the whole process a lot easier and faster now, and 2020 was a great year to start investing in land.

I actually did some land investing in Oregon as well.  Anyhoo, I'm a newbie to Real Estate investing but If there was anything I could contribute to this community it would be my experience in land.  Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi @Ian Poole,

I've heard from other land investors that started off with Land Academy that it is a pretty good program and taught them everything they need to know to get started.

I started off my investment journey in land with RETIPSTER.  I personally thought the program was good and I got through all the modules within a week.

In terms of time investment, I work a full time job and would spend a couple hours about 3 times a week sending out mailers or doing my due diligence.  I would say the challenge for me was taking sales calls during the day, some calls would last 2 minutes and others could last an hour (I'm also really bad at hanging up).  I know some investors that do it full time and others that do it as passive income.  I know some investors that really don't like talking on the phone, so they hire local Real Estate Agents that will handle everything for them.

I hope that helps! I'm a newbie to Real Estate investing but thought if I could contribute anything to this community, it would be my experience with land investing.  Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Not at all! Actually I think it's great you're starting off so young, I remember I had so much more energy at that age.
Good luck on your investing journey!
