It takes trust for sure, but in my case my partner has a child from A previous marriage. I got him to see his spending was a problem and it was  hurting his kid, too.  I am jealous of you having a bf who is on it!!

I tried to teach him and in the end he gave up!!! which is how we ended up where were are now.  He did take a small interest to stock investing, and he has a small brokerage account. In the end that causes me more work, but I keep hoping!

Give up  trying to win her over. Take control. My husband has a credit card with a weekly budget and gets a small amount of cash. he can do whatever he wants. I mean whatever.  No questions asked. I do not open his statement, i just pay it. But if he goes over? Hell to pay ;-)  Sure it sounds mean but he doesn't have to do anything financial at all.

I do the bills, budgets, maintain insurance policies and propery tax.  I manage all the investments and bank accounts.  His weekly money does not go towards any bills at all and We have almost all of our household goods delivered once a month from amazon.  He appreciates dropping stacks of bills on my desk and walking away!

We have a finance meeting once month.  We discuss short and long term goals that we both decided on.  Sometimes he says hey I need money for x this month. Or I say hey, we have X big expense this month. Can you get by with 50 bucks less a week?

Now its all about compromise.  And we have other areas where he has executive decision no matter what.

For instance, if and when we go on vacation I let him pick where we go and how we get there. He hates getting on an airplane but I will sit in the car for 16 hours because he wants a road trip!

Do both! I have a friend who is a CPA, and Im taking classes for my Lic right now. I remember her dealing with the classes and taking the CPA  test.  She's been at the same firm for 5-6 years now I think, since before passing exam.

We actually just had dinner the other night and her job sounded very good to me.  She works at a small firm and manages a handful of accounts. She can work at home if she wants.  Flexible hours but  don't know about pay!  We met last week, which is prime time tax season and she did not seemed stressed at all.  Seemed like you would have time for both.  Made me kind of jealous compared to my job (or lack of at times) to be honest!

My mom ran a booking business when I was a kid, and she also did assistant work for CPAs. I would get paid $5 an hour to help out in her office and I hated it.  I wish I had paid better attention!

Someday we'll be forced to stop having lush green lawns in California and stop building golf courses and restaurants with misters in places like Phoenix.  I'm not on the doomsday side of things but I do believe in respecting the planet and planning ahead. We've had serious conversations at our brokerage about investing in affordable areas with strong water resources as a long-term play. It's something to think about

You haven't been to Cal in awhile. At least not near me. No one has lawns any more. In fact xeriscaping is all the trend on mls listings.  My last house had a no water front yard. We completely relandscaped the entire yard with native plants and shrubs. Lots of mulch to keep the evaporation loss at a minimum. Gravel in traffic areas.   Not only we save water, it helps the birds and bees. Lots of butterflies too.

My husband and I have actually considered opening up a landscape biz, as we have helped neighbors do the same with their yards. We are just too busy with our personal residence at the moment. There are some HOA hold outs but they will have to convert eventually.

DWP gives huge refunds to tear out turf for native shrubs.

my parents sold a 4 Plex in Redondo beach when I was a kid. I want to go back in time and slap them! When I was ten my parents almost bought a place on the beach in Los osos for 140k. I remember touring it with the Realtor. Check out values now.

This whole time I have heard flood, fire, earthquake. Bla bla bla. Calfionia will collapse for this reason or that. Let's be real...  Y'all are just jealous cos you can't afford it.  There's a reason foreign investment is always on the coasts.

If Ca  falls into the ocean I will open up a scuba dive tour of old Hollywood movie lots.  Escape from LA anyone?  However I do love Oregon!!!!

I need to check this Brookings place out. I was in Florence last summer and i loved it!

i know. I can not click on that link. My husband will divorce me if he sees me on a dating site (how we met)

Divorce is not good for cash flow.
