@Brian Garlington sorry about posting an empty message. I was thinking of putting an offer on a multiplex. The plan is to occupy one of the units as owner-occupied and continue renting the others. Is this a good strategy at this point in time when the bay area rental market is soft and the asking price of the multiplex is $2M? What are some of the things that a newbie should consider? Thanks for responding.

Hi All, Is a owner occupied multi-family (duplex/triplex) investment in bay area a good idea? I've been waiting to get into the real estate market in the bay area since mid-2014 but could find the courage. I converted my primary residence in MA into rental in mid-2014 when we moved here and still renting. Please advise. Any recommendations from the professionals here are welcome. Thanks.
