@Kody Fordyce My brother has sent us a few things between 450k and 1M, kind of a large range haha. I think I am shooting to keep things under/around 70k per unit. With it being the first deal together, I think we are both leaning towards keeping it closer to 500k overall. That way we still have funds to do something else this year. I go back and forth a lot on really what I am looking for though but I am sure as I keep learning and connecting with others I will be able to find my thing. Up until this point all of the properties I have bought have been more about the long term equity play but I have recently stated leaning more towards wanting a bit more cash flow.

How did you make the transition to the midwest and out of state in general?

Wesley

Hey,

I'm Wesley Jeanette, I am a Colorado native born and raised in Boulder. I'm 29 and work as a software engineer during the day. I have been doing a little bit of real estate for the last 5 years. I bought my first property, a townhouse, in 2012 w/ 5% down shortly after I graduated. I lived in it for exactly one year. Once the year was up I bought a condo (again 5% down) and moved into it for a year while I rented my townhouse. I wish I could have kept up that trend but I didn't have any more money. In retrospect I could have easily made something work. Last summer I sold the townhouse to buy a primary residence with the future wife, Shelly (we are getting married this Friday). With the profits I was able to buy another townhouse in Castle Rock, which is where Shelly bought a condo in 2013. With that I have been managing 2 to 3 rentals for the last 4 or so years.

My father is a real estate agent and used to build homes before that so I grew up with a ton of real estate around the house. At the beginning of the year my brother decided to get his license down in Tuscon so being the kind of person I am I decided to get mine as well. As of mid week last week I have an active license. I got it thinking I would do a deal or two a year for friends and then anything I wanted to do on the side for myself.

Mostly I have been interested in buy and hold but the more I listen on here the more I am interested in everything. Right now I am working with a friend on finding a small apartment complex in Tuscon. The prices in the front range are just a little crazy but I am always looking at things so maybe something interesting will come up.

I just started listening to the podcasts and I love everything about bigger pockets so I am super excited to become part of the community.

Looking forward to making great connections,

Wesley Jeanette
