Hey everyone still new here. lots of great info on this site, Shame I didn't find it sooner. so what is the general consensus amongst the REI communities on tax lien auctions? I'm in Connecticut and I'm thinking of attending some of these to try and find my first deal. any and all feed back is welcomed.

Quote from @Jonathan Greene:

You have one of the keys to success for what you are planning to do, contracting experience. You can do the work at cost so you are invariably saving money, compared to us who can't swing a hammer, on all of your projects. But, I would still not start with complete distress. Sometimes contractors look at the house and think, I can fix this, so they waive inspections, not realizing that environmental factors (e.g. - underground oil tanks, septic) that are unseen can pop up in distressed properties a lot.

that is sounds advice, I will definitely keep that in my tool box

Hi Yiking, welcome and congrats on your move to CT! There is nothing like a beautiful old house going through a complete renovation. I bet it came out amazing, and now that its almost summer you can focus on the outside!

I am a realtor/investor located in West Hartford CT and would be happy to connect. I have knowledge of markets throughout CT and have experience in a range of real estate strategies including BRRRS, flips, cash out refi, selling financing, sub 2 etc.

I have access to off market properties, including some that need complete renovations. Feel free to DM me and I can put you on my mailing list. I can also help you with creative financing options as that's how I've managed to grow my portfolio!

There are RE meetups that I'd suggest looking into as well (Brandon Rush / Ryan Luby / Stephanie Cabral host some in central CT). Join the CT RE Facebook groups as they are generally advertised there.

thank you too your feed back. I will be contacting you as well

@Yiking Hernandez - welcome!  I flip, invest, and own a property management company in central CT.  DM me and I'd be happy to connect.  My main recommendation is to join meetups so you can connect with like minded people!

thank you for your feed back I will certainly be contacting you.

Hello to everyone here on BP! ITS MY FIRST DAY!! I'll start by introducing myself and a little background. my name is Yiking Hernandez i'm originally from queens NYC. I just moved to Brookfield Connecticut last June. Well I actually closed on my house dec of 2022, but I bought a pretty old house and did a FULL interior renovation (out side still needs work) and have been here since June and we love it!

I'm in construction and I'm looking to invest what money I have into distressed properties in the southern towns and cities of Connecticut, and also maybe Hartford and waterbury as well, utilizing the BRRRR strategy. The liquid capital I have allocated for acquisition is in the $100k-$130k range. it may not be much but I am looking for properties that need a lot of work and being that i'm in construction this part or the process should be less of an expense for me.

I'm here looking to get involved and familiar with a community of people that are in the world of finding these types of properties. who I can learn from and build health and mutually beneficial processional relationships with them to start my journey in investing and further theirs.        So anyone here that's novice user friendly in the lower Connecticut areas I'd be excited to connect with you. also if anyone knows of any meet ups I'd love to attend some. thanks in advance.
