Would be nice if the keypad alerts the user that the batteries are low or maybe there's something you can recharge?  

Sounds like this guy can get expensive real quick.Do you need someone full time or just someone occasionally to take the pressure off so you can take a vacation and recharge??

You will need to recharge the system with freon refrigerant.

I did meet with a few CPA's this year but the only one I found that was very knowledgeable in RE charged 1k for a return plus more for tax planning.
