I successfully run 1 STR and have a 2nd that an inherited PM handles.I have Vrbo and Airbnb they will sync with each other with no external software.I set pricing easily by using the built in tools that Vrbo provides.Automated messages are built into both platforms.Vrbo keeps my calendar slammed, but I take direct bookings as needed, simple to do.I have no additional 3rd party fees to very sucessfuly run and manage my property needing only a a few minutes per week.

They said that they have access to external direct booking website and they charge higher commission rates if guests book direct vs VRBO platform. 

It would involve putting an external staircase on the side of the house and making the second bathroom into a full bath.

The problem is a gun just like any external weapon can give the person carrying it the false sense of superiority.It amazes how many people practice with a gun yet a gun is not allowed in a ton of places nationally.

In Denver where I invest it's actually a PLUS to not have the other unit considered separate because permits are only allowed for STR if you're renting out your primary residence and I know many folks who put a locking door on part of their home and have a separate external entrance to that part of the house, and rent it out as an AirBNB without it being considered an additional unit by the city.
