@Steven Lowe and sure enough, the insults came flying - name calling, attacking my character, coming after me for my race, gender and sexuality, wishing harm to my family and myself - you name it, I think I've heard it in the last few days. 

It's a slow and steady journey of sacrifice, living below your means, delayed gratification, and just getting the snowball rolling down the hill.

What gives a person gratification, purpose and ultimately "happiness" is for each of us to define. 

For them it is not about the long game and its a short term gratification; they dont have the discipline to control.

However when one states that folks with a record of a violent or sexual nature its pretty easy to say that is protecting people. 

Do some wholesaling on the side as well but IMO, you will find more gratification and long term goals being met with a buy and hold strategy as your passive income will grow.

Or if your intent was to not rent to a gay couple, and your state doesn't allow discrimination against sexual preference.You probably couldn't get away with it in CA.
