If Cali retirees can not see the value compared to Florida or NV they must be blind.

Ultimately, we will live in the STR as retirees, and occasionally use it for vacation. 

Which is why a lot with infrastructure is a craigslist asset looking for a retiree who wants to add their own home and live cheap.  

A retiree isn't generally going to have a loss of income due to a job loss.
