Welcome to BP.When you respond to  a specific person, please place the @ symbol and then start typing their name. 

For homestyler, I'm not sure about designing wiring diagrams or stuff like that, but you can definitely input outlet locations, and other electrical symbols to indicate the location of devices. 

If you are okay keeping it in the thread, just put an @ symbol before their name and a box will appear with their name. 

@Dan Gustavson landlords should be changing locks the day the tenant does their walk through, so getting the keys back is more symbolic than anything.

For hyperlinks, there is a "link" button just below the text box you are typing in as you comment.For mentioning a member, use the @ symbol and type their name.

Also, when you reply on forum posts use the @ symbol followed by the person's name you are replying to and they will be notified that you responded.
