I house hacked my very first property as well!

If you house hack, and get called tomorrow to replace an HVAC or a roof, or the septic line needs major repairs, etc - how will you fund this? 

Ultimately, talk to your CPA, but all of my house hacked properties I own under my own name or any expenses I had while living there for the other units I deducted without an LLC. 

So many times I meet house hackers who want fixers and then I explain that yes, there is value (both of my house hacks were fixers), but there is down time without tenants and you could be doing higher income producing activities.

I bought my first house at 23 that I house hacked before I had ever heard the term house hacking.

Purchase price: $244,000 Cash invested: $11,000 This was a single family house that I converted into a duplex.
