After some exploration, it was determined that the sewer line from the house to the street had roots growing through it and that their estimate was $2,500-$3,000 to fix it. 

If they were trying to buy a rental as an investment and posting on BP, many of these landlords would be rooting them on and telling them "there's a deal out there if you keep looking hard enough."  

Anne  Your welcome the over improving the properties is rooted a lot with turnkey companies and brokers .. you know the granite and stainless and other higher end finish's that look great to an investor but really are not necessary for a renter..

there are many markets where 1000 in rent is way lower than buying your own home but in okc you can purchase a home and have payments below that so why rent if you plan on putting down roots here?
