With current building codes, I'd be even less concerned about hurricanes as long as you are not right on the coast (a lot of your concerns would really only be issues if you are on the immediate coastline).

My usual rules of thumb are, if you are looking to flip stay more towards either coast line or big cities since they have higher appreciation rates and there ROI for cashflow on average tends to be lower then the central part of the country.
