Perhaps the big 3 have changed their scoring policies (in the past, multiple hits have had far more than a 5 point drop) but then again I trust the credit bureau's honesty about this topic slightly less than I trust corner store sushi.

Think of it this way, if you purchase a $300K home and keep a renter in it for 30 years, when you are ready to retire that home will be completely paid off and in all honestie would probably have appreciated to closer to $600K.
