Unless your intention is to swim in the ocean every day, consider that you'd have to get on a plane to get there anyway, and look at the coast of Oregon.It's beauty can compete with any coastline in the world.

Get your credit score up and get a hold of 50k.Then you need to set up in a market where 50k can play ball with some comfort, that's in the middle of the country and not the coast lines as much.

Along the coastline from central California (those in the bay area. think they live in northern CA but don't) south to San Diego have areas with extremely expensive real estate.

As a foreigner buying land in Mexico within 50km (32 miles) from the coastline, you will use the means of a bank trust (fideicomiso) or you may buy property by establishing a Mexican corporation.

With that said, Punta Gorda does not necessarily have a "beach" because the few I know of in the area are man made due to the rough coastline there as well.

The coastlines are as ever popular due to the foreign investment, such as the Costa del Sol, Levante and Costa Blanca.

Then there's Acadia National Park - not to mention the general scenic nature of the coastline. 

Foreigners owning real estate cannot buy up their coastline or expensive real estate.
