In my area it is common for landlords to pay for heat which promotes a lot of abuse with the system in that tenants keep the heat at unreasonably high temperatures and often open the windows in the dead of winter when it can be -20 out.

Let's just hope none of your tenants read your response and figure out what a pushover and easy target you are.Not aware of any laws in Chicago or Illinois that require a landlord to provide a property with a MAXIMUM temperature.

The waves are getting bigger, the temperatures are getting hotter.

Temperature control:  It's always naturally cooler downstairs, and in the heights of summer and winter, I just cannot get the temperature regulated for both me and my tenant to where we're both comfortable.

Bought a new construction in a very hot area (both temperature and housing market).

I had a bit of realization yesterday and want to test the temperature, mainly for self managers and smaller PM's. 

I don't have a problem with that because it was similar to a furnace, set the temperature. 

Our state guidelines say we must maintain a temperature of 65 degrees.
