An LLC is one type of business structure of several choices (sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, limited liability company, limited partnership, limited liability partnership, etc.) 

Largely due to a larger competitor ousting my bids (has a corporately guaranteed lease.)

It is confusing since legally it is said that if a parent LLC holds the LLCs which are actually holding rental properties than it becomes tougher to pierce corporate veil.
