I have a potential applicant with a big dog (a Husky) for a room in a student rental/shared house that I had intended to be a "no pets" rental. 

I believe it is pretty easy to get a pet certified as an emotional support animal but service dog certification is very rigorous.

It seems like everyone has an emotional pet, or service dog or so on.

And maybe half of those single-family homes won't accept a pet but yours will.Without knowing the entire picture, nobody can really help.
