From my experience in propane, but never having dealt with Natural Gas, I'm about 99% sure you would have to call the gas company that provides you the gas to come work on the gas line and get the separate meters set up on the house.

We had to add 10 piers under house, mostly new floor joists, all subfloor, most sheetrock, mostly new wiring, new HVAC and ductwork, new sewer, water, and gas lines, etc… and we were able to stay under $60k I believe.
