And he has a source for solid oak cabinets, that are cheaper than Home depots stock cabinets, that we can finish with any paint or stain we want.  

You could probably seal in the meth with a floor to ceiling spray paint job and get it to pass a meth test but I wouldn't spend too much for a meth house if they are requiring it to be gutted completely

Then painted it again with our "rental beige" and flat white ceiling paint.

Suggestion:  If you're on a PC, just do a print screen, open up MS Paint, paste the screen capture, crop, save and post the image here...

Will ultimately replace cabinets next yearRooms:  Paint over walls, remove popcorn ceiling. 

We painted the brick white and are going to spray the inside of fireplace and screen with a high heat black paint but have't done that yet.

(I realize the front needs more work than just the door issue, I plan to paint, add some shutters, fix the landscaping, etc)  It's just that I can't seem to figure out how to handle this door issue nicely.

This is another tip to others looking to buy a property then when you get it you might have to update things completely and the cash flow model the previous owner has been touting will not matter.If you buy a property in the 70's or older you also have to watch out for the EPA lead based paint rules.
