Later....An Nick, you don't have to carry any ID, unless you're driving a vehicle, but if you leave the country, say Europe and a cop asks for you passport/ID, if you don't have it you go to jail and don't get to pass go!

I wouldn't discredit entirely working through a crowdfunding portal they do a lot of due diligence on the sponsor and deal that you may not want or know to do yourself.Certainly each group will also have different barriers of entry as far as who they want to invest with them, but I think first if figuring out what is your preferred investment vehicle - Asset Class (Multi, SFR, Retail, etc) and markets that you yourself would like to invest in and go from there.

For bonus points, do this in a self-directed IRA and you won't have to pay tax on it.Self-directed IRA is a tax-deferred vehicle just like a conventional IRA.
