But you gotta have some nerve to put your life savings on a USB drive, fly to New Zealand and hope that the USB drive is not broken when you plug it in.

I also like pieces that can serve multiple purposes (e.g. modular coffee tables that the guests can move to better suit how they want to use the space, night stands with built-in USB A and C, art that doubles as lighting, etc.). 

So, just pure networking and for us being in the market at the right time!

I guess us being green, we don't have much info on creative financing, what type of loans to look for, who to trust, how it works, etc.

If you are planning to live for free, that is challenging unless you put a lot of money down (defeats the purpose of leverage) and/or adding units (which can be costly and timely).I think the challenge is people can't get over the hump that house hacking isn't forever.

One other consideration if you do get over this first hump...
