Football players or any ultra high income earners are targeted because they are seen as less financially savvy and more importantly they have MONEY.

I am a former NC State football player, and graduate, and homeowner in Wake County who rents out my property on Airbnb.

Even our fall football bookings are not complete which is unheard of and a bit scary, as that tends to help us get through the winter.
