Dun & Bradsteet Part 3?

Hey Everyone, A business colleague recently suggested we look into Dun & Bradstreet.  I know Josh says it's a must, but reading articles online really seems to paint the process as unnecessary at best and a scam at worst.  What's the deal?  Is a DUNS number necessary but everything else a scam after that?  It looks like the DUNS is $229; is everyone paying that much for the number?  That's no small change for a startup business.  I would love some real feedback on people's experience with the company and the value of engaging them.  Doesn't your business just develop credit by taking out loans, credit cards etc?  Thanks everyone!

Getting a DUNS number is free, but D&B *IS* a for-profit company. They will try to sell you anything t hey can. In the end, however, get what you need - not what they want you to buy.
