Advice Needed: Starting Real Estate Investing in Austin, TX vs. Raleigh, NC

Hi everyone,

I'm new to real estate investing and I'm looking for some advice on where to get started. I'm considering two locations: Austin, TX and Raleigh, NC. Both seem to have strong real estate markets, but I'm not sure which one would be better for a beginner like me.

Can anyone share their experiences or insights on these markets? What are the pros and cons of starting in Austin vs. Raleigh? Are there any specific neighborhoods or property types that you would recommend for a first-time investor?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I'm entering Austin shortly as investor. Live here, though.

I'm deep in the RTP area, too, investment wise. Investing in Austin would be more akin to investing in Nashville, than say Raleigh.

All three of the aforementioned cities are great, price points differ between the two of Raleigh & Austin, and then Nashville is more Austin-esque pricing wise. You have to remember Austin and Texas, as a state, has higher property taxes. To really gauge which one is for you, is really your goals and what your starting with. All variables the same Austin is superior.
