Hello. My name is Steven Crawford. I am looking into becoming a successful Real Estate Investor. I am having a hard time knowing where to start. I have reading BP including listing to blog and pod-casts. I just want to know what other investors do to get start. I do not have the skills to rehab a property nor do I have any capital to invest. What do I get started? Is there anyone out there that was in the same boat as me before getting started?

Hi Steven,

I still consider myself a newbie to RE investing, however over 50% of RE investors started exactly where you are today.

I started by going to RE investment networking events and learning from others.  I underwent a self examination to really understand myself, determine strengths and weaknesses as well as my level of risk tolerance.

You should also be able to understand why you want to be a real estate investor and what area interest you most and why.  This will help you find your niche.  Then start your research in that specific area.  Reach out to others who have been successful in that area and pick their brains on their critical sucssess factors and what pitfalls to watch out for.   You may have to assess yourself and your situation to determine what sacrifices will need to be made on the short term and at what cost?

You should set goals and road maps for yourself and your business.

There is a ton of research and resources on BP,  just take your time and you will know what to do when the time comes.    You probably have already done this but I would suggest that you spend some time going over the Ultimate Beginners Guide to RE investing, and its various links.  Once you are done, you should pretty much have an idea of how and when to take the next step.

Good luck with Real Estate Investing.
