Dealing with Difficult HOAs
HI All,
I am a new real estate investor. I bought a condo that is currently managed by HOA. During the sale process and while i was also purchasing insurance for the condo, i reached out to the HOA company to ask when was the roof of the condo was last updated. I have an email from the person managing that property that it was last updated on 2013. My insurance company has issue the policy with that date in mind for the last repairs of the roof. They did a survey at the property and find out there are some lifted shingles on the roof. The insurance company requested to get receipts on the 2013 roof repairs. Now i am hitting a stone wall when it comes to getting anyting from the HOA.
I have called and email endless times to get any information from them. I finally got hold of the email address of the president of the company and emailed him as well. No response on this request. Now my insurance is being cancelled due to not being able to provide supporting paperwork. I just got a notice of cancellation from them.
Any advice in how to deal with unresponsive HOA other than lawyering up?
@Iyey Nur mention to them that you're planning to lawyer up, might be just the motivation they need to look a little harder.
