Hey BP! My REI journey began when a good friend of mine turned me on to the Biggerpockets podcast in January. Since then, I caught the REI bug, listening to the BP podcast on my work commute, buying and reading real estate investing books and telling everyone I know that I am getting into Real estate investing. Currently, I live in Santa Barbara where the average home price is $1 million +, which means I need to look and invest in a different city and or state. I am writing this post with the intention of starting a conversation and making connections to continue my journey of purchasing my first property.

Hello Nick! Welcome to BP! It will be hard to make things work in your local market but if you go off-market you may be able to make something happen. If not you can always look to the midwest and south for cheaper real estate. I'd say get to know your market first and then if you can't seem to find anything look at cheaper markets that have good teams in place.
