Can an Agent legally create an LLC while with broker?

Hello all,

I would like to know if a Real Estate agent can legally establish an LLC while hanging their license with a broker? I live in Alabama. But am finding it quite difficult to get an accurate answer to this question in any state.

I would like to promote my own business name considering an agent is a independent sales person and receives a 1099. This gives them power to have their own business, right?

You can open your own LLC, but it doesn't do anything for you except for accounting purposes. Not worth it unless you're making $100K+.

You don't need an LLC to promote yourself. You can call yourself anything you want, but your local board of Realtors will have specific rules on advertising, business cards, sings and such.
