Door Knocking for deals?

I've been trying to find any statistics on this, but the best I can find anywhere on the internet is statistics for realtors getting listings(between 100-200 no's for every yes). Is it about the same conversion rate with getting real estate deals? I really don't want to waste time doing this if its not a good way to go.

Andrew -
I know few real estate agents who door knock anymore. It was a widely used technique in the days before the 'net, but not so much now. If I were to become an agent, that would be the first thing I'd do in the target farm that I'm focusing on. Everyone is spending their time and energy on online marketing and direct mail. While time consuming, I think the personal touch of a visit speaks volumes.

The key to door knocking is that the people in your farm will get to know you. Attending and sponsoring local community functions along with your knocking campaign will quickly help you become known in your area.

I hope that helps a little.
