Student housing?

I was wondering who has had experience finding student housing and more importantly securing the financing to build or finance the purchase of student housing.

After a quick discussion with @Brian Gibbons about the idea it should be a successful venture in my area. I'd just never given it much thought before. Where should I go to find more information? And who should I talk to? Would I want to join forces with the colleges in the area or go it alone?
