Im interested in investing and renting property. Can someone advise me on how and where I can get started? Should I obtain a real estate licenses first? How much money is enough to start off becoming an investor if your credit isn't so great.

welcome! In my opinion, you do not need a RE license to get going. I think a few thousand can be enough to start by doing some flips, use hard money for the rest. there are ways to get started in REI without having a rich uncle:)

Hi Nicole:

Go to MeetUp.com and find investor meetings in your area. Join your local real estate investing associations (REIA). To find one near you, check out NationalREIA.com.

And look to see if there are any landlord association meetings in your area. You need to learn the language and something about the business before you jump in. These are great places to learn and meet others in your area doing what you want to do.

No, you don't need a real estate license.

And here's a post I wrote for BiggerPockets on Beginner Basics.

Good luck to you!
