Property Tax Question

I was reading an article a while back about a guy who owned a property and his monthly mortgage payment was less than his monthly expenditure on property taxes. I believe it was a commercial building somewhere on the east coast.

Has anyone ever hear of a situation similar to that one? I moved to Nebraska a year ago and Nebraska has affordable housing, but very high property taxes, at least compared to Kansas and Arizona, the other two states where I have owned homes.
