A multimillion-dollar building permit was submitted for FedEx near the Memphis International Airport.

The permit, valued at $3.2 million for “building renovations,” was posted April 19 for 3140 Tchulahoma Road. FedEx was listed as the tenant, the Memphis Airport Authority as the owner.

FEDEX

In March 2017, an amendment to FedEx's composite lease agreement was approved with the Memphis Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA), which added unimproved ground south of the FedEx Hub off of Democrat Road to the company's area.

Following that March approval, FedEx provided the following statement:

“FedEx is pleased the airport authority approved a modification of our lease agreement that incorporates more than 72,000 square feet of additional, undeveloped property. The parcel, adjacent to our World Hub, will be paved and used for storage of ground-support equipment starting in February 2018. We plan to relocate our hub training to 3140 Tchulahoma Rd., and relocate our ground-equipment maintenance group from the hub to the airport’s Administration Building and Airfield Maintenance Building. We expect to start the relocation process in April and complete it by September 2018. This will allow us to use our existing maintenance group space for sort-related functions in the hub.”
